Understanding Wisdom, Proverbs, and Prayer

Wed, 05/28/2014 - 8:54am -- Rob
A.W. Tozer wrote some important points to consider when we think about God's attribute of wisdom.  Some key takeaways include:

"Wisdom, among other things, is the ability to devise perfect ends and to achieve those ends by the most perfect means.  It sees the end from the beginning, so there can be no need to guess or conjecture.  Wisdom sees everything in focus, each in proper relation to all, and is thus able to work toward predestined goals with flawless precision."

Life Lenses

Wed, 05/21/2014 - 1:20pm -- Rob

It's been said that one who prepares to teach or train others is often the one who learns the most.  While I don't know if that's always true, the Lord is teaching me a lot about developing a deeper fellowship and relationship with Him as He continues to help me prepare OnSite's prayer training and prayer discipleship model!

One thing He spoke to me about this morning is our "life lenses."  Life lenses are how we view God, ourselves, and the world around us.

Aware in Prayer/Independence Day

Wed, 05/21/2014 - 1:16pm -- Rob
Independence Day is a day to celebrate freedom and independence from the rule of any other nation.  While God has given us great freedoms, we do remain fully dependent on Him.

God is the Lover of our Souls, our Creator, our Wonderful Counselor (the Holy Spirit), Prince of Peace (Jesus), our Almighty God, our Rock, Salvation, and He has many additional names!

Does Praying On Site Make a Difference?

Wed, 05/21/2014 - 12:57pm -- Rob
Recently, a friend invited me to join him to prayer walk a school prior to the start of the school day.  Despite beginning the morning very early, we shared a rich and powerful couple of hours in prayer together as we prayed through classrooms, locker rooms, hallways, and more!

Later that afternoon, my friend called to report something he heard from a school administrator during the day.

Knowing About God vs. Knowing Him Personally

Wed, 05/21/2014 - 12:32pm -- Rob
I hear much talk in Christian circles about the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Some Christians model the fruits of their relationship with Him as they pray and worship God with others; study God's Word in community, and share their personal testimonies with those around them.  They carry joy and confidence in Him; practicing His presence and being connected with Jesus in conversation throughout the day/night.

Have You Inconvenienced God Recently?

Wed, 05/21/2014 - 9:15am -- Rob

When I was a boy, secular TV shows would occasionally insert a "God-moment" where a child or adult character would "pray" to God.  Typically, it was a "God, if you're up there, would you do this for me, or get me out of such-and-such situation?" kind of prayer.  Often times too, there would be a "I know you're probably busy, God, but if you'd kindly squeeze just a moment in to hear me, then... (selfish, spoken prayer request was shared)".
